Expressions of Marilyn obsessions by younger wannabe celebrities rarely invoke positive comparisons with the tragic sex symbol. Rather it only serves to highlight the imitators' poor identity, changed body ideals from the 50's, and relative trashiness.

See: Anna Nicole, ScarJo, Linds, Madonna, younger Loni Anderson, Christina Aguilera, etc.

I don't think I've ever seen any of these chicks and thought, "Wow, she's the spitting image of her!" I usually dismiss them with something like, "She's no Marilyn." Most either come across as ball busters (Madonna) or trailer park strippers (the rest of 'em). None of them have the softened vulnerability and the, well, class, of La Monroe; Linds has come the closest with this spread, admittedly, but still lacks something -- likely MM's elegance.
