"@nollid51: At 140,000 miles my '99 Suburban has only needed one major repair, and to be honest I probably killed the rear diff doing doughnuts in empty fields. Chevy built the '99 and older pick-up chassis and drivetrain for decades, so it's hard to go wrong with one, particularly for $3k-ish. Other than the benefits of fuel injection, a late eighties/early nineties TBI Suburban/Silverado is as stone simple and as bulletproof as anything from the late 60's."
