<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Bet On Who The New Doctor Will Be]]> Tennant is on for at least 2 more seasons: the BBC wouldn't put one of its biggest shows on hold for someone who wasn't going to stick around. That is just business. Tennant has most likely told them he'll do season/series 6 if they truncate series 5 and let him do Shakespeare.

That said can we now discuss how super kick-ass 'Turn Left' was?

<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Absurdist Pro-Science T-Shirts for Every Occasion]]> @harlock_JDS: No, I'll mock the bible all I want because that's what the Jesuits taught me to do.

Have you ever really read the bible? Probably not because the thing makes NO sense whatsoever. None. Just start with the differences between the Old & New Testaments and go from there. It's a stupid book filled with ancient desert prejudices and a schizophrenic god.

<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Best Doctor Who Episode Of The Year]]> @jbq: A LOT to like about the Silence In The Library/Forest of the Dead.

]]>
<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Best Doctor Who Episode Of The Year]]> First off, I LIKED the episode. I thought that once it really got going it... well, really got going. The way the tension kept rising and how the Doctor couldn't contain it... well, I have to agree that it seems the Doctor needs 'motion' to help focus people and get them to follow him.

Tennant is a formidable actor and is going to have a ginormous career once he hits the big screen. While every episode, good & bad, has at least one scene that showcases his talent, this episode was special in that regard.

I will also admit I would have enjoyed a "Who am I? I'm the last of the Time Lords, ancient and powerful..." (though with better delivery than in the xmas episode).

@SeeingI: I am aware of RTD's views on "Retro" but... well, that can backfire. Last week's podcast (for Forest of the Dead) had a great explanation for that by RTD, Moffat & Tennant. BUT, there's a difference between being stylish and just having folks wear what they showed up in.

My problem was that the cheapness (like just unplugging an ugly pink phone and not even trying to cover up the jack) just kept shining through and made it tough for me to initially get into the episode.

They could at least try is all I'm saying.

<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Best Doctor Who Episode Of The Year]]> Sorry, meant to say that "ST: TNG looks looks better then Doctor Who and they made those 20 years ago."

(maybe they can swipe some costumes from wardrobe at Paramount? I know they still have that stuff over there...)

]]>
<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Best Doctor Who Episode Of The Year]]> Uh, no sorry: I want to love this episode but the INCREDIBLE cheapness of it just made me nuts and kept taking me out of it. You can see the phone jack on the bottom of the phone Donna is handed... in an age when we have AMAZING cell phones ('mobiles' for our british friends) the movie screen in the rover? Where did they get that, from some poor high school circa 1760?

UGH UGH UGH.

And the costumes... what did the actors bring that stuff from home? Sweet Zombie Jesus, would it kill them to dress folks like it's the future and not 1992????

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!

I am the BIGGEST Doctor Who apologist, but this episode just drove me up the goddamn wall!

I know it was the throw-away episode, because next week is all Donna, but f@#k... can we spend this supposed 'budget' the New York Times says the show has? It looks worse than ST: TNG and that was 20 years ago now!

]]>
<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Five Lessons Hulk Should Have Learned from Hyde]]> @DCI Gene Hunt: I have to agree, and sometimes I wonder about the dork-cred of the writers on this blog, because everyone I have talked to or saw the movie LOVED it. The crowd I saw it with responded the way they did at Iron Man (Opening night @ the Vista in Los Feliz with the hipsters & latino families). I think word of mouth is overwhelmingly positive.

(What the f@#k was the Chinese Theater Superman doing so far from Hollywood? And during prime earning hours? And who will keep Meth-head Elmo in check?)

<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Is Earth's Magnetic Field Failing Us?]]> This is nonsense, every TRUE American knows that the earth is 6,000 years old and is special in the cosmos. <![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Doctor Who Forest Of The Dead Clip]]> @Atrocious: you don't know Alex Kingston? Did several years on ER? Dated Peter Benton, was married to Mark Greene until he died? No? She's rad.

Love Martha, don't miss Rose, Donna is good clean fun, but somehow I don't think we're getting Alex Kingston anytime soon... (NO, I don't read the spoilers for Doctor Who. EVER.)

So sad this season is rapidly drawing to a close...

]]>
<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Doctor Who Forest Of The Dead Clip]]> @Mills: I believe there is at least a 50% chance she whispers his name.

Though based on the mid-season trailer she could be telling him Rose is coming back (though that is kind of an odd thing to be sorry about).

Moffat rules. All thanks to RTD for brining it back, but his scripts start off well but never quite deliver... Moffat? Oh yeah, he brings the Doctor.

Now if only their sets and costumes were a little cooler (why does everyone in the future dress like it is the 20th century?) ST TNG was 20 years ago and even they did it better.

]]>

<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Doctor Who's Dadshock Is Really Grief]]> @Aethyr: The Doctor-less episodes are most-likely (a) to save money and (b) free up some production schedule time.

]]>
<![CDATA[ComicDork commented on Doctor Who's Dadshock Is Really Grief]]> @Lizzie24601: I think you've missed that all of the episodes so far have something to do with Cloning or genetic transformation. The Adipose transforming human fat, the Pyroviles tranforming humans to stone, the Sontarans are clones and now a genetic copy (though not clone) of the Doctor.

That's the theme of this season: cloning/biological transformation and that means... the Rani. Maybe. No idea because I avoid the Spoilers like the plague. Or Scientologists because you gotta avoid them.
