Short Ends: Eddie Off To Rehab

 - Defamer· Another little piece of our teenage innocence is torn from us as Eddie Van Halen heads off to rehab. We always thought Michael Anthony would be the first to go, what with that Jack Daniels bass and the constant whiskey-chugging on stage. We blame David Lee Roth, somehow.
· Anna Nicole: The lovingly crafted, hand-sewn finger puppets. It was only a matter of time.
· This depression stuff is really affecting Rosie's blogging. All she can say to the Idol guy's angry response to her weightism/racism charges is a weak, " well.../what can u say really/from the coca-cola red couch/i call it as i see it/nigel l - sam r/same same same/1985 - 2007/blah blah blah blah/blah blah blah blah."
· Happy third birthday to Thighs Wide Shut, whose celebratory post will completely overload your already blog-addled brain.

  • that Thighs Wide Shut site made my browser barf up a malware warning...

  • I blame Rosie's blog entry on hanging upside down for a half hour a day. Come to think of it, it actually explains a lot....

  • Thank god for Rosie. I used to just like her because she seemed so awkward but very genuine and for the fact that she used a lot of her power to help people or at least make them feel better.

Now I love her because she seems to piss off everybody I despise.

    Please don't ever stop, Rosie.

  • Ya know, might as well blame Diamond Dave. I'm sure Eddie does. Maybe rehab will help heal those blaming-gaming wounds.

  • I'm not really surprised that Eddie needs rehab, but I am surprised he is actually going. Why now? Talk about your career alcoholic. Saving his marriage wasn't the catalyst, and neither was getting cancer. Is he saying that he wants to clean up so that he can go on the road with David Lee Roth? Seems like an exercise in futility.

  • @IKnowThings: This is the only tour I've been excited about in quite a long time. I would rather see Van Halen with Slash on guitar than without DLR. I freaking love Dave: one of the finest entertainers of all time, and a pretty fine human being besides. Sammy might be getting the checks; I like that Dave's interested enough in his life that he's become so many other things, including an EMT. His biggest fault is going on too long about how he's been scapegoated by the Van Halens...even though it appears to be true.

I better leave this alone--David Lee Roth is one of the few subjects that renders me totally fanstruck and thusly devoid of knowing when to stop...posting...about...Dave...

  • @Bufflekins:

I think Diamond Dave is the last of the truly great front men of rock, and I love how committed he is to the rock star lifestyle, even as he explores new passions in life, such as the EMT thing. I think that's awesome- wouldn't having David Lee Roth as your EMT give you the will to survive right then and there? But Dave is as Dave is. That's why I don't understand why Eddie is picking this moment to go into rehab. If they are really going to tour this summer, it's a bit like Eddie is taking a long hot shower before going outside to play in the mud all day. Sober Van Halen = Current Aerosmith

  • @IKnowThings: continuing this conversation may get us kicked off this site...meet me at the juice bar for some wheatgrass, and bring your copy of "Crazy from the Heat."
