Defamer Casting: A Million Little Fatones

The media shitstorm accompanying the revelation that A Million Little Pieces author James Frey embellished moments from his life to appear more bad-ass than it actually was (maybe that gunfight with three hundred Ohio cops was just a speeding ticket, but such is the subjective nature of drug-addled memory) has certainly thrown some heat on the big-screen adaptation of the book, currently in development at Warner Bros. Frey's allegedly mused about landing Tobey Maguire, Orlando Bloom, or Jake Gyllenhaal to play him, but if the producers want to eschew pretty starpower for a deeper commitment to physiognomy, we see a clear choice for the role: boybander-turned-actor Joey Fatone.

  • ...or raffi could give him a run for his money.

  • Book Plugger Oprah told Larry King she was "dissapointed" that the publisher had miscategorized the book -- but she was no less moved by the story and Frey's writing. Okay Oprah honey -- I will write a book while sitting at the Coffee Bean in LA about my ordeal and triumph over drug addiction during the horrible conditions of New Orleans's Katrina aftermath. I will call it a true story...get film deals, have you plug it nationally and then admit I've only been to New Orleans once for JazzFest '91. Still moved and inspired, girlfriend?

  • Only $79.50 to see his speaking tour in Toronto on the 26th. Then again, it's Canadian money, which is the Speeding Ticket of Western hemisphere currencies compared to the American Gunfighter. Was shocked to see the city's best indie bookstore still promoting the reading in their window last night. AA meetings, to be held all across the city, will still be free that night. Coffee and tea will be served. SHENANIGANS!!!!!!

  • Please tell me I'm not the only one who read the title as "A Million Little Fat ones..."

  • I nominate UCB\'s Brett Gelman for the role: http://www.invitethemup.com/temp/cpg133/albums/userpics/10...

  • Sheesh, sorry! http://tinyurl.com/dslot

  • Imagine if Oprah had picked A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, and then it turned out Eggers\' parents were still alive. Wonder how she\'d spin it? Also, Mr. Jinks.

  • Monkeyindiapers: Is the book you wrote any good? Why on earth should I care if it's true. Lordy, half the flims I watch have a framing device that claim "based on a true story." As if.
