Hmm. This statement leads me to suspect that the writer has not watched much besides Star Wars and Star Wars based material, if that is what they consider the height of "creativity". Hint: having fun while watching a movie is not the same as creativity in a movie, although they can coincide.

Cacafuego commented on L.A. Courts Literally Go To Shit As Notorious Director Faces Obscenity Trial A lot of the "scat" artists from the late 1970s & early 1980s contracted AIDS and Hep C, so I guess there is something of a public health concern, outside of the obscenity issue. When I was growing up in the 1960s/1970s this element of the porn industry--scat and beastiality--was so underground it seemed almost apocryphal. Now it seems to be part of every online hardcore website. Ugh.

Dude, no one 13 or under knows/cares who Stan Lee is. His 'rep' lies with Boomers who read the early Marvels in the early-mid 1960s and are now old enough (and have the jack) to finally get to pal around with their childhood "hero". Actually, I think Johnston is the one standing, not the one sitting. Since they're working on character sheets fro Sleeping Beauty, which was released 49 years ago, and took about 3-4 years to make, so this picture was probably taken in 1955-1956, 53-52 years ago. Which would make Johnston 42-43 years old at the time.

Funny how everyone wrings their hands about the 9th Ward, but the middle-class neighborhood I lived in--Lakeview--rarely gets mentioned. Cacafuego commented on 12 Ways To Prepare For The Next Great Depression I don't remember my grandparents doing any of things you mentioned in order to survive the Great Depression. Then again, they lived in a small town where things weren't (and still aren't) much different from before the Depression. They had a truck patch--then again, so did most folks--and kept a couple of chickens for meat & eggs. And my grandmother knew how to sew. They didn't hunt, but traded eggs & veggies with relatives who did. And they ate a LOT of fish, which my grandfather loved doing on weekends. My grandma also put up a lot veggies during the summer--canning, preserves, jellies, that kind of thing.

Our society is crippling itself with laziness and reliance on others (ie companies & stores) to do the things we used to do be able to do for ourselves. The majority of 20 year olds nowadays couldn't survive a week without microwave and a touch screen.

Cacafuego commented on 12 Ways To Prepare For The Next Great Depression The truth of the matter is that Depressions are a necessary/natural "re-set" button on economies. The fact we have structured our economy to keep depressions from occuring is the reason the cost of living has kept steadily going up since the end of WWII. I grew up in the 1960s. When sodas were a dime. Thirty years before that, when my parents were kids, they were a nickel. Sodas are now--what? A dollar and change?
