When Richie Sambora Gets A DUI, The Jersey Girl Inside Us Dies A Little

sambora.jpgDenise Richards fling-survivor and two-time rehab graduate Richie Sambora experienced one of those nasty wake-up calls last night, stopped by Laguna cops shortly before 11:00 PM after swerving in a Black Hummer. "He failed numerous field sobriety tests and was detained for DUI. At the station Sambora opted to take a blood test rather than blow into a breathalyzer. Laguna Beach PD Sgt. Jason Kravetz [says], 'At this point there's no indication of drugs.'" Funny—we don't remember asking about drugs. We leave you now to spend some quiet time with Sambora's bemulleted mugshot, looking deep into those bloodshot eyes as you sing out to no one in particular, "Sometimes you tell the day/By the bottle that you drink/And times when you're all alone all you do is think."

  • Damn he was a dumbfuck to leave the Locklear...

  • He's just livin' on a prayer, isn't he?

  • Sheer genius songwriting...rhyming "think" AND "drink"...wow.

  • I know a place, where the faces are so cold/I drive all night, just to get thrown into lockup for too much boozy goodness. Long live the hockey mullet! I loved him in Barfly.

  • I could probably handle the drinking but not that damn mullet. My lady-wood for him is gone forever.

  • Why do I want to pat him on the head?

  • Love me some ruddy-faced alcoholics. So fun!

  • He could've made it home, too. He was halfway there.

  • Seth, I'm going to beat the Canadian out of you for leaving us with that ear-worm.

  • He drove full of bad medicine.

  • @Glass_Family: Fuck. Now that song.

I have to stop checking this thread, satisfaction's guaranteed.

  • It's all the same, only the names have changed...

I've never seen Mr.Sambora without gallons of orangey make-up. Blimey, he looks rough. You could pack for a month in those eyebags!

  • @TheStarterWife: Well, now I'm just going to have to dig through the Jovi vault to make your day as miserable as mine.

  • @Glass_Family: He said:
    Oh yeah
We were cruising to the backbeat
Oh yeah, Making love in the backseats
We were wild, wild in the streets...

For the record, my discography limit is Keep The Faith. I lost the faith after the hair came off.

  • The lyrics are bad enough but the fact that his daughter, another little girl and a girlfriend we can only assume is past the age of consent, were also in the car makes me sick...

  • The best bit, which you haven't highlighted in your piece is what Locklear did after she was phoned by police to give her the horrible news that her daughter was in the car at the time. Must have been pretty shitty for a 10 year-old girl, right?

Locklear then did what you'd expect of a celeb Hollywood Mom. Nope, she didn't drop everything and rush to her daughter's side. Nope, she didn't drop everything and call her security to rush to her daughter's side - NOPE - she authorised the unknown female to drive her daughter home.

Parenting Hollywood style. Someone should compile a guide book to this for us twits and the press.

  • I'm going to give Locklear a pass......she may have had some shit to do, it being Richie's day for visitation and all. I'm assuming she wasn't at her home and it was quicker and easier for the unknown female, who Heather probably knows, to drive poor little girl home, where I assume Heather was headed. Not to mention that she was probably so fucking pissed off at Richie and in no state to drive. I don't think we have enough of the story to place any blame on Heather Locklear. Plus....there is always the option that she was too drunk to drive herself, being that she finally got some time off, with the girl off with deadbeat dad. Perhaps Heather was out partying with Jack Wagner and David Spade when she got the call. The options are endless. Unfortch for us- Locklear seems very diplomatic, and it is unlikely she will ever talk in the press about this. Denise would have, obviously.

  • @IKnowThings: I'm not going to give Heather a pass - sorry. I don't get Hollywood/celeb/whatever 'morality'.

I'm sure Heather was doing something else. Even if the other adult female (whoever she was) in the car was a nanny type person or minder - I still don't get it. Heather could have had a driver (I'm sure she has a service that she could call for that) to drive her there to be with her kid when her kid's Dad had just been arrested for drunk driving.

AND this was after 11pm at night! Grrr. Yup - I'm a very old fashioned gal. It's ALL wrong, not just in the obvious 'Daddy been caught driving under the influence-dammit', wrong.
