Angela Bassett received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, and if her emotional speech doesn't get you right there, well, you're probably the CEO of a major media corporation or something: "Today my cup runneth over. I am crying now, I cried yesterday and the day before. Who would have thought that a little girl in pigtails from St. Petersburg, Florida, would grow up to find herself gazing at a star with her name on it, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? This day is so, so special to me." Photo: Getty Images [Yahoo News]

you mean to tell me angela bassett, after "what's love," was devoid of a star on the hollywood walk of fame until today? oh no they didn't.
"hey anna mae! where you goin'? i need to get some sleep!"
"go straight to hell, ike."
This magical day was in service of promoting your slumming in a Tyler Perry movie, Angela. Your cup is either half-empty or half-full; "runneth over" it certainly does not.
It's her damn fault. She had the nerve to age. Black actresses over 40 in Hollywood have a better chance of being portrayed by a terrorist than working in films. Now she'll have to wait until she turns 70 to wrench a role out from under a still kicking Ruby Dee.
a shame that she isn't in more movies as more and more talentless actresses continue to abuse movie screens.
@Nomi Malone: you forgot the best line of the movie "eat the cake anna mae"
I understand that instead of a film camera, they added a medallion of a bicep to the star.
Ten years later, the Shaggy music video was worth it.
I try to keep my trivial comments to the fashion sites, but it must be said that the woman looks not fierce but exquisite, right down to the fingertips. Good for her!
I love her. She's smart. She's talented. Now, put her in some good movies!
"Who would have thought that a little girl in pigtails from St. Petersburg, Florida, would grow up to find herself gazing at a star with her name on it, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? This day is so, so special to me." -pause- "Now please don't forget to see my new movie opening this weekend."
I like Angela and she deserves it, but the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a joke. We all know it, but I still get annoyed with it. If it weren't for every new star ceremony being part of a press junket for a new movie I might be a bit more sympathetic. But this is just silly. I suppose they're holding off on Tyler Perry's star until the next movie.
Wasn't she up for Monster's Ball yet didn't do it because of the nudity? Well, not the smartest decision, it was a great role.
