Poor Jennifer Aniston. After mustering up the courage to show up to a pre-Oscars party where she was supposed to finally come face-to-face with her man-stealing rival Angelina Jolie, the rug got swept out from under her when Jolie failed to show up for the event. But the glossies seem to be getting the angle all wrong. While Us paints Aniston as the victim (their hed: "Angelina Jolie continues to keep the power over Jennifer Aniston"), we have to disagree with their hypothesis. The tabs have relentlessly portrayed Aniston as a helpless single gal who can't catch a break, but the sheer fact that she dared show her face proves once and for all that Jen finally grew a pair. After all, for all Jolie's pre-show talk, when the time came for long-hyped matchup to go down, Angie couldn't walk the walk.
Us quotes a source as saying Aniston considered the evening "the perfect chance [for closure.] She said the stress of having to avoid them was more painful than seeing them." Which is admittedly far more mature than our usual avoid-exes-at-all-costs method. So there was Jen, beaming and ready for Angie's promised make-up, knowing fully well that her enormous belly had made a jaw-dropping cameo at the Independent Spirit Awards, but the future mother of seven couldn't show her face. That's "power"? Sounds more like cowardice to us.

A little advice. She needs to finally be able to NOT make a big deal about meeting Jolie, and realize she needs to move on! That is called CLOSURE. If she is trying to find a meaning to her life, meeting with Jolie cannot be it! How pathetic!
She needs to have a talk with her therapist instead. I bet, this story will keep Aniston on the cover of the tabloids for a good 3 months. Is any of her movies releasing soon??
Word on the street is that Courtney Cox-Arquette was hiding in the bushes waiting to ambush AJ as she and JA mended fences.

I'm on Team Get-Over-It-Already! One day the tabs will stop acting like JA is the first woman to ever get dumped, over even cheated on. She actually might be able to move on if the tabs would quit making it seem like she's falling apart at the seams because she don't have a man or a baby.

AJ behaved like a bored parent at a kid's birthday party at the IFC Awards. She looked a bit pissed when she didn't win, too. Has to be quantum humiliation for a big stah like her to show up at a leeetle awards show and then not win. IMHO this is why she and Brad sat out the Oscars.
How come nobody is mad at Brad Pitt? The biggest culprit of 'em all? He is the person she needs to confront, for whatever this CLOSURE is.
Such a soap opera! Aniston needs Jolie to reaffirm the justification of her existence... and give her life some worth. And the 'now-holier than thou' Jolie is keeping away... "power play" whatever! The tabloids are all going crazy.... and we are biting our nails in eager anticipation... taking sides... LOL!

@Orm: I agree that Brad Pitt's the biggest asshole in the whole thing, but you have to wonder what man living was going to be able to pass up an aggressive come-on from Angelina Jolie. She instigated the whole thing, apparently, relentlessly pursuing him from the rehearsal stage on until he finally went for it.
I don't think George Clooney himself would have been able to resist the offensive of a woman considered the most beautiful in the world who is also apparently crazy hot in the sack.
I don't buy anything other people say about her feelings about the whole thing. So far she hasn't said a word publicly about it, has she?
I know he's supposedly the hottest man alive but maybe things were already starting to fizzle with them. Maybe she is the real winner here. She has freedom to do what she wants, everyone feels sorry for her, and she doesn't have six kids and a weirdo spouse to try to impress all the time.
It all just seems so fake and contrived to me.
